am I obligated to pay?

I have an 8 year ancient daughter that I share custody of w/my ex husband.
last year, I enrolled her in girl scouts and she sold over 300 boxes of girl reconnoiter cookies. 500 dollars of these sales came from my ex husband’s side. when we turned the money in, he wrote a check for his part.
about 3 weeks after we turned in the money, the troop leader approached me telling me it had bounced and that the girl reconnoiter leadership might approach me to fix the problem since I was the one that signed the waiver for my daughter to sell the cookies. I was very upset and told my ex he had to pay for the cookies.
about 2 months went by and he never paid it. at the time, I was getting child support money from him and in dread that my daughter wouldn’t be able to do scouts again, I told my ex that I would use 2 of the support checks to help pay off the balance (he’d have to pay 200 still). after this exchange, my ex missed 2 payments and I had to reinforce the support.
I eventually got the money but my finances suffered from not getting the payments on time and the more I thought about it, the more I felt that the child support payments were mine (and my daughter’s) and I no longer felt we should have to pay off his debt.
I got an email from the troop leader again this week and she told me that my ex told her that he gave me 300 dollars of the money he owed her!! I emailed her back explaining that it was child support money (sent through the court) and I felt I didn’t have to give it to her (I place this nicely).
am I ill-handle here? I use the support money to pay for my daughter’s gymnastics classes, new clothes, etc.
this was a debt he made (claimed someone stole his bankcard but I know that if this really did happen-the money would have been returned and he could’ve paid the scouts back- I reckon he spent the money on other things) and I feel it’s not my job to bail him out
thoughts?!!

You are absolutely right. You should not have to pay for his responsibilities, and they are his. Do not take this on or he will continue in his negligent behaviour. He has to pay back this money to the bank, where it should have been returned NSF. I also would not pay the girl guides. It is their responsibility to collect as well and they are being unreasonable if they reckon you should. Your husband is before a live audience a very ancient game of he said, she said and in the end he will end up the loser. Let the courts go after him as well if he doesn’t pay his child support. Detach from all of it and go on, only next time do not allow anything that is being sold by your child to be bought by him. Lesson learned eh! Take care
